In this role, you will be part of a global team closely monitoring supply and demand fundamentals. This insight drives key decision-making, such as buying, selling, and moving physical cargoes of oil; managing the associated risk; working with clients, counterparties, and our risk functions to conclude trades and monitoring our risk and financial position.
You will assist in the development of the team’s short- to medium-term outlook and participate in discussions centered on global crude oil flows/fixtures, and the identification of dislocations and trade opportunities. You will be able to utilize advanced modelling techniques (regression, classification algorithms) to determine the relationship between energy market variables and maintain/develop data visualization dashboards with the evolving needs of the trading desk and broader research via Plotly Dash, Bokeh, and/or other Python based dashboards.
To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or computer science, with a high level of academic merit. In addition, you’ll bring 7-12 years’ experience in advanced numerical, Excel, and programming skills in Python, R, SQL or JavaScript are essential. Knowledge of fundamental oil market drivers, including seasonality trends, shipping flows, location arbs and refining margins for key global regions is also highly regarded
